A Non-Governmental Organisation, GEOGOJIH Foundation has donated the sum of N410, 000 as palliative to all the 36 coaches of Nigeria Handball including FCT to cushion the impact of the national lockdown by the federal and state government as part of measures to curtail the ravaging coronavirus also referred to as COVID-19, Bestchoicesports.com.ng can report.
Spokesman for Geogojih Foundation Mr. Hussaini Mohammed, state this in a press briefing Wednesday.
The former handballer noted that the gesture was in appreciation of the laudable efforts the President, Handball Federation of Nigeria, Mr. Sam Ocheho, has put in ensuring the improvement of the handball in the country as well as welfare of the players, clubs and coaches.
Mr. Hussaini Mohammed expressed appreciation and support to the efforts of Mr. Sam Ocheho HFN led board, in particular to the recent donation of 250,000 Naira to each of the 22 clubs in the Prudent Energy Premier Handball League.
“It’s really heart-warming for us to hear this cheering good news which is what handball need now amid this COVID-19 Pandemic.
“We are happy about this good development targeted at our lovely players and I want to call on all well-meaning Nigerians, corporate organizations as well as ministry of sports to emulate the Prudent Energy & services and the HFN Board,” he said.
Adding that “In support of the efforts of Mr. Sam Ocheho and the HFN board, we at the Geogojih foundation want to support the HFN President and the board by giving out a token of 410,000 Naira to the 36 States handball Coaches including FCT, Nigeria Army, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp and the Nigeria Correctional Services.”
Mr. Hussaini further appealed to all meaningful handball stakeholders to put hands on deck for the development of Handball in Nigeria.
It could be recalled that the sponsor of Handball League in Nigeria, Prudent Energy and Gas Services, last week gave out N5.5 million to all the 22 clubs in the league.
