Flying Eagles Chief Coach Manu Garba has confirmed that the team will embark on a playing tour ahead of the CAF Africa Youth Championship slated for Senegal in 2015.

The U20’s have been idle for almost one month, since the Lesotho U20 team pulled out of an AYC qualifier against their Nigerian counterparts, citing the Ebola Virus Disease as the reason.

The team is already through to the championship proper but remain inactive, with the last competitive game being the qualifier against Tanzania in Kaduna.

But Manu has now confirmed that they are set for a playing tour between the end of September and the start of October.

“We should be embarking on a playing tour by the end of this month, or at the start of October,” said Garba.

“We need to get the boys together and get them working as a team so we can have a proper preparation for the Africa Youth Championship in Senegal.”

Elections into the Nigeria football federation are due by the end of September, but administrative lapses at the Glass House could hinder the team’s plans of having the playing tour.

Almost all administrative efforts at the Glass House are currently geared towards the NFF ordinary congress being held this weekend, September 20, in Warri, and also the elective congress.

A good number of the Flying Eagles players have either secured contracts with foreign clubs, or are on the verge of doing so.
