The 2018 budget as presented by Yobe state Governor, Alh. Ibrahim Gaidam, has been described as a people oriented budget, that as usual, tailored towards people oriented projects that is geared towards improving the lives of the people.
The National Secretary of the party, Alhaji Maimala Buni, who stated this while fielding questions from newsmen, said the financial prudence and budgetary discipline of the Gaidam administration has promoted transparency in governance with massive infrastructural development.
“Yobe state had through financial commitment, budget discipline and transparency made great achievements in health sector, road construction, education and employment opportunities and in spite of the security challenges and global economic recession, the Gaidam-led administration had consistently paid salaries, pension and gratuities even without the federal government financial bailout,” Maimala said.
He also described as a great success the 82% budget performance of the2017 outgoing year with great impact on the lives of the people pointing out that the continuity of the state in completion of all on-going projects had made government more responsible and responsive to the needs of the people.
He also stated that the N4, 4 billion treasury open balance for the year 2018 is a testimony to the prudence of the state government “when some state accounts are in red, Yobe state will be getting into the New Year with this huge amount shows the prudence of government.”
He commended the state assembly for the good synergy existing between the two arms of government and commitment to serve the people effectively.
“The good relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government is commendable and worthy of emulation for the collective good of the people” he said.
