The national President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, a Fulani socio-cultural association, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo has called on Nigerians to see Fulani in the country as peace and loving people, not terrorists.
Bodejo made this known while reacting to a confession of a captured alleged Fulani insurgent that invaded Gidan-Gambo village in Lafia East development area of Nasarawa state.
He said some individuals want to drag the good name of Fulani in the mud by hiring thugs to invade some communities and tagged it on them. “We want the world to know that Fulani are peace and loving people but unfortunately some individuals want to drag our good name in the mud, because whenever some gun-men invaded a particular settlement they quickly point accusing fingers on us, we want to bring to an end the erroneous accusations,” he said.
Bodejo stated further that, “recently a young man of 25 years of age, Abdullahi Buldi was captured by some Eggon youths and he confessed of being paid to burn some communities in Nasarawa. To my investigation, the young man was not a Fulani man by tribe; he was just paid to tarnish our names by those who are enemies of Fulani.”
The Fulani leader appealed to security agencies to spread their drag-nets to apprehend and prosecutes perpetrators and sponsors of Fulani/farmers conflict because they are feeding fat on it.
He condemned the incessant killings of innocent persons by gun-men especially in Nasarawa state and the Northern part of the country, calling on the government to find lasting solution to this dastardly act.
