The Kebbi State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said it has reduced road crashes to 49 percent and fatalities to 71 percent from 2017 to 2018.
Addressing newsmen yesterday in his office, the State Sector Commander of the corps, Mr Abayomi Asaniyan, said that the command would not relent in its efforts to reduce the fatality and crash to the minimum levels in the state.
“You see from September 2017 to September 2018, we are able to reduce the road fatality to 71 percent and the serious crashes to 49.5 percent , the minor crashes to 54.7 per cent, while In this year, we are able to reduce the fatality to 78.4 percent,” he added.
He said with this it shows that the command has done well in terms of road crashes and fatalities in the state, adding that the command would establish 42 road safety clubs in the 21 local government areas in order to effectively enlighten the motorists on the road safety, and rules and regulations.
“The aim of the clubs is also to serve as pilot model road safety clubs in the state,” he added.
He revealed that the command had embarked on Ember Months campaign tagged “Safe Driving, Safe Arrival.”
