Chairman, NFF Technical and Development Committee and Niger state Football Association boss, Ahmed Yusuf Fresh has thrown his weight behind the successful organisation of the first edition of annual Stephen Keshi National Under 17 Football tournament scheduled to hold from 1st to 7th of June 2018 in Benin as part of activities lined up by the National Association of Nigeria Professional Footballers in conjunction with the Stephen Keshi Football and Vocational Training Centre to mark the second anniversary of late former captain and coach of the Super Eagles, Stephen Okechukwu Keshi.
Yusuf, a patron of the Nigeria players union, assured the union of his support. The NFF board member, known for grassroots football development, due to his unequalled and unconfined contributions towards the development and promotion of football in the country, said he is delighted to be given the opportunity to be part of those doing something to immortalize the contributions, legacies and memories of late Stephen Keshi through the tournament, already endorsed by the Nigeria Football Federation as an annual event.
In a release signed by the union’s Assistant General-Secretary, Comrade Danladi Musa, said further that “there is no doubt that the tournament will serve as most veritable platform for the discovery and nurturing of hundreds of Keshi’s in the nearest future.”
Already 16 teams across the country have indicated interest to participate in the tournament
