The Federal Government in collaboration with Adamawa state Government have organised a one day workshop for officials from agencies and parastatals to handle the new free school feeding programme of primary one – three pupils in Adamawa state.
Disclosing the development in Yola Monday,National Coordinator,school Feeding Programme,Mrs Adesanmi Abimbola congratulated Adamawa state government and parents of potential beneficiaries for the opportunity of becoming part of the initiative.
Mrs Abimbola enumerated the objectives of the programme to include;massive enrolment of pupils by parents,additional nutritional food value and encouragement of financial empowerment to those to be engaged as contracting firms to supply food stuff for the feeding among others.
She therefore urged parents especially in the rural areas to stride in entrolment of their wards with a view to benefit the federal government social intervention scheme.
Earlier in his remarks, Governor Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla said his government in conjunction with the office of the Vice President has been working modalities of its implementation in the state for the past six months noting that the time has come to partake in the program.
Governor Jibrilla said the kick starting of the scheme is a fulfillment of campaign promise by President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration during the last 2015 electioneering campaign across the country.
Jibrilla directed all agencies to be involved in the programme to ensure accountability and transparency in their dealings so that fairness and justice can be attained.
