Free healthcare for 120 public schools in Kuje

No fewer than 120 public primary schools in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are to benefit from the free health care treatment programme powered by the wife of Kuje area council Chairman’s wife, Hannatu Shaban Tete.

The health programme, which is in collaboration with the Centre for prevention of HIV AIDS and community Health, a Non-Governmental Organisation in FCT, would be used to treat the pupils in the benefiting schools in the council, for malaria among other community related diseases as well as distribution of Free treated Mosquitoes’ nets for the use of such pupil household.

Declaring open the programme, the Chairman of the council, Shaban Tete, represented by his Vice Danjuma Baba, noted that the council would ensure that the entire area are treated for malaria to reduce infant death and mother mortality in Kuje.

In her welcome address, Mrs. Tete explained that the gesture which started with over two thousand pupils of Science primary school, Kuje, where the exercise was flagged off, aims at bringing about healthy and wealthy nation.

One her part, the coordinator of the partnering Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO), Dr. Okey Obi, called on parents of the benefiting pupils to stop patronizing quacks in the health sector as well as stop self-medication.
