From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi

Four persons were killed and many others injured at Waya community in Jato-Aka, Kwande Local Government Area by suspected herdsmen.
House of Representatives member for Kwande/Ushongo Hon. Robert Tyough disclosed this to newsmen in a statement.
Hon. Tyough regretted the incessant attacks on his constituents, noting that Kwande Local Government Area has only 35 police personnel.
“As the member representing Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency, I can authoritatively say that my people are still being attacked on daily basis by herdsmen militia.
“How can 35 police men guarantee the safety of lives and property in a whole local government area?
“I am making efforts to get more police personnel deployed to my constituency. I am also requesting that the mobile police units be taken to Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency to improve on the security efforts in the area.
“I also read the comments credited to Governor Samuel Ortom to which Major General Yekini reacted, and I saw nothing strange or hurtful to OPWS in what the Governor said other than the well-known fact that our security agencies need support. The Governor’s statement implied that as much as the military operation has done well, a lot more need to be done to ensure, for instance, that Benue communities are safer so our people can return to their ancestral homes.
“In my opinion, Major General Yekini ought to have seen Governor Ortom’s call as a voice of support. He and his team have no doubt done a commendable job, but they are also aware that their capacity needs to be strengthened to enable them do better.
“Security is one important service we as leaders must give to our people”, the Federal legislator said.
While confirming the renewed attack, Police Public Relations Officer DSP Catherine Anene said on 3rd March, 2020 at about 10:00 pm, unknown gun men suspected to be herders invaded Moon district, Kwande Local Government Area.
She said they shot sporadically at persons sited at the river bank, killing one male and two female.
The Police Spokesperson hinted that more police teams have been deployed to the area to restore peace and order while investigation is still in progress.
