A Foundation, created by Dr. Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna has trained 100 women in Gombe State in different skills.
Non-profit making, non-political, non-religious, the Foundation disbursed N100 million for that purpose, a statement said yesterday. This was done through the Gombawa Youth Education and Women Empowerment Initiative.
The beneficiaries were trained in various skills, including making petroleum jelly, air fresheners, disinfectants, perfumes, confectionery, food seasoning, dairy products and juice.
A statement by the Foundation’s spokesman, Sani Abubakar Banki, said “Today, 100 women from various parts of Gombe local government area of the state, who have undergone training in different skills, received the sum of N10,000 each as start-up capital from Jamilu Isyaku Gwamna Foundation. The gesture is to complement the laudable efforts of the Gombe state government at cushioning the effects of poverty amongst vulnerable women in the society.”
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Malama Maryam Suleiman thanked Dr. Jamilu Gwamna for the kind gesture. She prayed Allah to increase his wealth and protect him in all his endeavours.
