The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has commissioned the Central Mosque of Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.
Speaking before the commissioning of the mosque which was named after him, the Sultan expressed appreciation to those who contributed to the completion of the project.
Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar called for proper maintenance of the mosque, and used the medium to remind politicians of the need to focus attention on issues beneficial to Nigerians.
A guest speaker at the occasion, Shiekh Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa while enumerating the benefits attached to mosque construction, appealed to Muslims to contribute in that direction.
Daurawa suggested the establishment of education and administration committees in the mosque for better maintenance.
Bauchi State Governor Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar reassured that his administration will not relent in its efforts to support religious activities for peace in the society.
Represented by the State Commissioner for Religious Affairs and Community, Alhaji Ado Sarkin Aska the governor called on people of the state to continue to promote peace for the development of the state.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Sunusi Waziri Gumau disclosed that about one hundred million naira was expended for the completion of the project, and has the capacity to accommodate one thousand worshipers.
The Rector said the amount was realized through monthly deduction from salaries of Muslim staff of the institution for over twenty one year’s, adding that the second phase of Islamic center would cost 172 million naira.
The Sultan has also commissioned N74. 7 Million Primary School name after him in Miya village, Ganjuwa Local Government area of Bauchi State.
Commissioning the School Abubakar Primary School in Miya,said there is need to put efforts all together to provide learning place for the future generations.
He expressed appreciation to Miya community and the Bauchi state government for naming the school after him.
