First Sokoto midwife, Asabe Tambaya dies at 78

The first female registered Midwife in Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara States, Hajiya Hajara Tambaya Audu has died at the age of seventy eight.
Late Tambaya Audu was the first Commissioner Ministry of Women Affairs Zamfara State, died at Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital Gusau following a protracted illness.
The remains of Hajiya Tambaya Audu, who demised on Monday Evening, has been laid to rest yesterday at Tudun Wada Cemetery after a funeral prayer led by Imam Halilu Anka in accordance with the Islamic rite.
Late Audu survived by her husband, Alhaji Audu, living behind four children and ten grandchildren. Amongst whom were Saudatu Audu, the Secretary Zamfara pension board, Muhammad Lawal Audu of Petroleum equalization Fund and Amina BM Audu of Federal University Gusau.
Her funeral prayer was attended by Emir of tsafe Muhammad Bawa, Zamfara State Head of Service Kabiru Balarabe, permanent Secretaries, Haruna Salau, Ahmad Sale and Kabiru Gayari, former commissioners among many dignitaries
Until her death, Haj. Asabe Tambaya was the Director General Women Affairs Sokoto State and a retired Metron.
