The kaduna office of Freedom Radio was yesterday gutted by fire in the early hours of the day.
The incident happened at the wee hours when the fire was said to have emanated from the inverter room that houses the station’s electrical equipment.
It was gathered that the offices affected were inverter room or engineering room, Head of Marketing office, conference hall, security office and driver’s room.
It was further gathered that the private station went off air temporary before it resumed transmission around 10:45 am yesterday
The Station Head of Operations Abubakar Jiddah Usman who confirmed the incident in a phone interview said the fire started around 2:30 AM from the inverter room which houses so many equipment while the power supply passes through the inverter to the station’s transmitter.
“I think it could be heat or some kind of electric fault which cause the fire and consumed about five offices which was why we went off air but resumed around 10:45 am and God willing we will continue with out transmission” he said.
Our reporter observed that the properties and equipment destroyed ran into millions.
