The Federal Government has stressed that policies and programmes to enhance the development of science and technology are being implemented in the country.
The Minister of state for science and technology, Dr. Muhammad Hassan Abdullahi made this remark during a courtesy call on Governor Aminu Bello Masari at Government House, katsina.
Dr Muhammad Abdullahi told Governor Masari that he was in katsina to launch a new teaching aid for science and technical schools.
The Minister acknowledged the contributions of katsina state towards producing manpower for technology and bio-research centres.
He commended katsina state government for putting in place structures that would enhance the learning of science and technical education in schools.
He expressed optimism that Katsina state will in the not too distant future compete favourably with other states in technical education.
The Minister used the visit to invite Governor Aminu Bello Masari to be the special Guest of honour during the forthcoming science and technology Expo scheduled to hold from 15th to 20th of this month in Abuja..
Responding Governor Aminu Bello Masari expressed the resolve of the present APC administration to develop science and technical education in the state.
The Governor told the minister that Katsina state government would continue to support the newly upgraded ministry of science and technology, the state science and technical education board and the Youth craft center to enhance science and technical education in the state.
Masari commended the series of Programmes and innovations being introduced by the federal ministry of science and technology geared towards taking the nation to the next level of development.
He observed that the technology story board was introduced to serve as a teaching aid for the imparting of knowledge in science and technology for the young ones to know how goods and services are being produced.
He said making the facility available through the involvement of PZ company would take Nigeria to higher pedestal in modern technology.
He also appreciated the minister for selecting katsina to host the launching of the technology story board in the North West Geo political zone.
In a remark, the state commissioner for science and technology, Dr Rabe Nasir announced that the state has synergy with the federal ministry of science and technology for the development of science and technology in the state.
Dr Rabe Nasir spoke at length on various efforts with other agencies and bodies for the development of science and technology.
He therefore hopes that teachers of science and technology will find the technology story board a companion in the running of their Programmes.
The commissioner explained that each state in the North West will have nine selected secondary schools that would receive the technology story board free.
