The cleric gave this advice yesterday, during the seventy-second Islamic Vocational Corse and the presentation of the annual Hijrah calendar of Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSS), held at the Presidential Hall, Birnin Kebbi adding that their need for Government to put more emphases on both western and Islamic education in order bring more knowledge and more development to the society.
‘’I also call on Muslims, especial Muslim students, to vigorously pursue and seek knowledge for the betterment of the society’’, he said.
The Sultan said it was imperative for Muslims students to dedicate themselves in the pursuit of knowledge as a first mechanism towards loyalty to God and leaders, as well as for peace to the society.
The Muslim spiritual leader also said ” I am sure you are all aware that it is only with quality education you can differentiate between good and bad and prevent unrest in the school environment and give your maximum contribution towards the peaceful coexistence of our society which is seriously in need”.
The Sultan, who was represented by the Emir of Maradun, Alh. Garba Mohammed also called for more investment in education at all levels and for the enforcement of discipline on children, so that they will be good leaders of tomorrow.
During his remarks at the formal opening ceremony at the Islamic occasion , the guest speaker , Prof. Idris Muhammad Buguje talked extensively on security facing the nation especially Muslims and the issue of sectarianism in Islam which, according to him has been capitalized upon by anti-Islamic forces to aid the Boko Haram insurgency .
The Professor also challenged MSSN to address immorality in student campuses, create its own social media platform and the problem of hijab being faced by female Muslim students in some Nigerian schools.
