FG irrevocably committed to fight against graft -Osinbajo

The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has given reasons why the present administration is irrevocably commitment to eradicating corruption since it assumed office about three years ago.
Speaking at the first Kogi State Economic and Investment Summit in Lokoja yesterday, Vice President Osinbajo described corruption as a cankerworm that is seriously retarding the progress and development of the nation.
He noted that corruption is holding the growth of the nation, despite her enormous human and materials resources, saying concerted efforts must be geared towards fighting the menace for the overall transformation of the country.
He disclosed that the Muhammadu Buhari led administration has achieved a lot in taking the country to another level of development, as giant strides have been recorded in various sectors of the economy, which are of immense benefits to the general well being of the people.
The Vice President further disclosed that efforts are being intensified by the Federal Government to revive the Ajaokuta Steel Company, saying the legal issues holding the revitalization of the project has been thrashed while the 110 mega watts power plant in the company is been revive, and would be added to the national grid.
He revealed that technical audit of the company was on-going while work on Itakpe Warri rail project when completed, would ease movement of people and goods, even as concerted efforts are being made to make water ways navigable all year round.
He stressed that the Federal Government, aside commitment to complete the Mambilla hydro project which has been abandoned for 40 years, has equally intensified efforts in making the second Niger Bridge project a reality, among other laudable projects.
He maintained that about N1.19 trillion got to the states including Paris Club refund, explaining that even though some of the funds are entitlements of states, no government has made such efforts in assisting the state govern,ents in time of need like the present administration.
The Vice President expressed the commitment of the federal government in collaborating with the private sector so as to open up opportunities to boost the well being of the people particularly the down trodden, more so that that the private sector is key to economic growth.
He commended Governor Yahaya Bello for his foresight and commitment in putting the state on sound economic pedestal, describing Kogi State as confluence of culture, tradition and resources, in view of its rich potentials.
Governor Yahaya Bello had earlier in a remark, expressed the commitment of his administration to put the state on sound economic pedestal, promising to harness the enormous resources in the state, to boost the well being of the people.
