The Federal Government has engaged the services of an Abuja based consultancy firm, Proserve Energy Services Limited as local partners to a foreign consortium that will offer among others consultancy services on the planned concession of four prime airports across Nigeria, investigation has revealed.
Stakeholders are currently calling for transparency in the entire process in order to avoid what they call a return to the abyss because majority of the concession agreements the federal government entered into in the past in the aviation industry are ridden with legal disputes in courts across Nigeria.
The Minister of State Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika at different forum reiterated that the processes will be open for everyone to see, however workers unions in the sector believe the assurance with utmost caution, hence their recent strike.
Last Week in Lagos, the trio of National Union of Air Transport Employees (NUATE), Air Transport Services Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (ATSSSAN) and the Association of Nigerian Aviation Professionals (ANAP) held the Lagos airport hostage demanding for the disclosure of the gamut of the concession.
The also alleged that Senator has brought in his cronies to take over the country’s airport facility, but check by Peoples Daily showed that government has included local firm they deemed competent to carry out a turn around of the fortune of the airport facilities among the foreign firms.
A source at the Ministry of Aviation said the FG will take cognizance of all the shade of opinions and abide by all due processes before finally selecting the most competent bidder.
Checks on the profile of Proserve Energy Services Limited indicated that aside energy, the firm carry out consultancy on Infrastructure Development,
Policy and Regulatory Issues,
Market Development and Liberalisation as well as Public Private Partnerships Advisory among others.
Responding to call made to the company office in Abuja, Dr. Ibrahim Abba Armiya’u, it Managing Director/CEO confirmed that the company is indeed working in partnership with a London based leading consortium that is providing the actual consultancy services.
