In its efforts to boost farming activities nationwide, the federal ministry of agriculture and rural development has embarked upon distribution of assorted fertilizers to 441,044 farmers across the 14 local government areas of Zamfara state.
The development was made known by the state Director of the ministry, Malam Musa Raji, who disclosed that the federal government would pay 50% of the entire commodity supplied to the state, while the benefiting farmers are required to complete the remaining percentage.
Raji informed that, farmers would be served with adequate farm inputs of their choice comprising rice, maize, suya beans and corn, stressing further that, all the 72 distribution centres across the state are busy functional towards achieving the desired goals.
He said the products were directed to be sold at the cost of 2,750 per bag, with a view to encourage both large and small-scale farmers, warning that any illegal change of formal price of the product would attract the wrath of the law.
The state Director called the district heads, village and wards heads across the state to take part for the sake of sustaining the programme through ensuring that all the farm inputs given to beneficiaries are not being sold for another reason contrary to the target aimed by the federal government.
