As Nigeria prepares for another round of a National Measles Campaign, beginning in the North West from the 26th of October, 2017, the Federal Government has denied rumours of harmful vaccination in parts of South East of the country.
This is just as the Federal Government has urged Nigerians to continue to support government`s efforts at all levels to protect Nigerian child against vaccine-preventable disease.
A statement signed by Saadu Salahu, Head, PR Unit, NPHCDA For: Executive Director NPHCDA and made available to the Peoples Daily yesterday in Abuja, said , “ Attention of the Federal Government has just been drawn to rumors circulating in parts of the South East concerning vaccination perceived to be harmful to children.
“The Federal Government wishes to state clearly that there is no such vaccination in any part of the country that is harmful to any child in Nigeria.”
The Federal Government re-assured all parents, guardians and care-givers of globally confirmed safety, potency and effectiveness of all antigens in the National Immunization Schedule against vaccines preventable diseases in the country and the vaccination is free in all public health institutions.
It also appealed to those peddling such un-patriotic, malicious and misleading information to desist from in-glorious acts and turn a new leaf in support of their country and fellow country men and women.
