The Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, has in the past three years, carried out the maintenance of a total of 22, 500 kilometers of road corridors and 80 bridges of different lengths in conformity with its mandate
Managing Director of FERMA, Mr. Gabriel Amuchi made this known when making the agency’s presentation at the ministerial score-card and press briefing of the ministry of works in Abuja.
He said in addition, all the 7,179 youths that were mobilised, trained and engaged by FERMA for road maintenance under the Subsidy Re-investment and Empowerment Programme, SURE-P, were retained in 2013 for aggressive maintenance of federal roads across the country.
“FERMA is directly responsible for the maintenance of the federal road network. In these past three years, a total of 22,500km of road corridors and 80 bridges of different lengths were maintained by FERMA”, he said.
He called on members of the public to desist from engaging in all forms of road abuse which ranging from indiscriminate burning of tyres to overloading of heavy duty vehicles plying federal highways.
