The authority of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa has said that the institution is set to graduate 23,128 graduates during its ninth combined convocation ceremony scheduled to take place this week Saturday at the institution.
Briefing journalists in preparatory to the convocation ceremony at the polytechnic board room yesterday, the Acting Rector of the institution Alhaji Abdullahi Alhassan Ahmed affirmed that out of the overall total number of graduates, 270 graduated with distinction, 4,882 with upper credit, 12,304 with lower credit and 5,672 had pass.
The Acting Rector further maintained that since inception of the polytechnic in 1983, the institution has trained people to acquire technical and vocational skills which has added value for the economic and social development of Nigeria especially in the spheres of Agriculture, industry and commerce.
Alhaji Abdullahi added that the institution has availability of astute and intellectual human resources as well as the quality of graduates, undergraduates and other research breakthroughs over the years mostly in the fields of agriculture and technology.
According to him” our focus since establishment has been geared towards achieving the polytechnic’s objective and also tailored towards molding students to become disciplined, skilled and innovative for self actualization and national development”
“ I assumed duty with focus to work wholeheartedly to further develop the polytechnic by sustaining, consolidating and improving on what we have on ground in the areas of infrastructural and human capital development, to ensure the provision of conducive environment for research, teaching and learning, ensure full accreditation of all programs being run in the polytechnic and mounting more programs relevant to the development of our immediate community and the nation at large” Alhaji Ahmed maintained
The Rector however concluded that the combined ninth convocation ceremony will cover 2013/2014 to 2016/2017 academic sections “as according to him the pre-convocation lecture is to hold Friday this week at the Muhammadu Buhari Multipurpose hall of the polytechnic.”
