The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) yesterday announced the reversal of Satellite Towns Development Agency (STDA), Agency for Mass Education; Agency for Science and Technology; as well as FCT Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to departmental status.
According to a statement signed by the chief press secretary to the FCT minister, Muhammad Sule, the reversal of these agencies, which was contained in a circular signed by the FCT Permanent Secretary, Engr. John Chukwu, was a follow up to the directive of the its Executive Committee last month.
It added that with the reversal, the Heads of the affected agencies would henceforth be known, as Directors and those heading various departments under the said agencies would operate as Heads of divisions.
“This new arrangement would be until the National Assembly enacts appropriate laws backing the establishment of such Agencies,” the statement said.
It would be recalled that the FCT minister had in June, directed that all its agencies without enabling laws be reverted back to departments until the National Assembly enacts appropriate law for them.
