To help reduce Maternal and Child death, the Rotary international district 9125 have embarked on the distribution of drugs and medical equipment estimated to cost about N10 million to FCT and seven selected states.
Some of the equipment include: “Fetoscope, pulse oximeter, oxygen concentrator, instrument sterilizer, sterilizing drum set, baby weighing Scale, Sphygmomanometer with tolley, ambu bags(adult and pediatric).
Others are; “Injection Oxytocin 500 ampoules(5×10), injection magnesium sulphate 500 ampoules(10×50) Bottles of multivitamin 200(20×10), bottles of vitamin Syrups200(20×10) and bottles of Vitamin Bco 100 (10×10).”
Presenting the donations to FCT Health and Human Services Secretariat (HHSS), the Chairman Rotary international Maternal and Child District 9125, Dr. Kolawole Owoka said Rotary international for years was known in the fight and eradication of Polio in the Country.
He added that Rotary international do, the are totally out to serve humanity, and based on available statistic data there is a lot of Maternal and Child death happening unnecessary so Rotary international district 9125 is out to reduce the scourge.
According to Owoka, Rotary international maternal and child health quality assurance project is donating some of these essential hospitals equipment and drugs to improve the Health of Women and Children of the inhabitants of the Federal Capital Territory, and to be deployed to hospitals mostly in needs.
He added that the project is to compliment government efforts in the reduction of Maternal and Child health care in our Country.
Receiving the medical items on behalf of the FCT Administration, the Acting Secretary, Mr. Musa Abdulraheem accompanied by the General Manager FCT Hospitals Management Board Dr. Aminu Mai, said the items will be used to Humanity and promised to make good use of the equipment in the FCT Hospitals.
The Acting Secretary thanked the Rotary international District 9125 for adding value to what the FCT Administration is doing in the Health sector.
While assuring the donation will go a long way in reduction of incidence of Maternal and Child death in the FCT, the Acting Secretary commended the Rotary club for embarking on the maternal and child health project, therebycomplimenting government efforts toward saving the lives of mothers and children in the country.
