Some of the residents of Gwagwalada Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Wednesday accused the chairman of the Area Council, Mr. Adamu Mustapha Danze of failing to repair the dilapidated roads in the area.
They said that despite the monthly subvention being given to the chairman by the Federal Government he had failed to carry out meaningful projects in the ten political wards of the Area Council.
Mr. Ada Obi, a resident in Kutunku community, said the road which links the community to FRCN was neglected by the administration of the Area Council for so long now.
Obi said the deplorable condition of the road turned the community into slum and urged the chairman to do something about the bad roads in Gwagwalada for the sake of commuters.
Another resident, Mr. Yunusa Abdullahi, expressed with dismay the way at which the Aguma – FRCN road was abandoned by the leadership of Gwagwalada Area Council.
He noted that the administration of the council had not impacted positively on the lives of the residents in terms of basic necessities of life.
A motorist, Sani Usman wondered whether the residents of Gwagwalada have a Government in place due to absence of infrastructural development in the area.
He said almost all the roads in Gwagwalada Area Council are in state of deplorable conditions and called on the council chairman to do something about it.
On his part, the community leader of Angwan Azara, Mallam Lawal Saleh, lampooned the chairman over the abandonment of sharp road which leads to Angwan Azara community.
The community leader said the chairman had not done anything in the community since he was elected into the council.
Not left out, an aggrieved member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who spoke on the condition of anonymity alleged that the chairman had not carried out tangible projects since he took over the administration of the Area Council.
He also alleged that the council’s monthly allocation was spent recklessly without meaningful projects. This, he said the chairman has no leadership quality to transform the council for better.
He expressed concern the manner at which the chairman was sleeping from one hotel to another lavishing the council’s funds.
