FCT minister backs Igbo Unity Football Cup Championship

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Sen. Bala Mohammed has graciously thrown his weight behind the forthcoming FCT Igbo Football Unity Championship billed in Abuja next month.

Making this known to newsmen in Abuja yesterday, the chairman of the FCT Igbo soccer association Ndubuisi Chigbu said that eighteen football clubs have indicated interest to participant at the 2014 edition of the fiesta.

According to him, the immediate past chief of Army staff Lt.Gen. O.AIhejirika, permanent secretary FCDA Mr. John Obinna, former governor of Anambra state, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, HRH. Eze Nwosu Ibe Igbo 1 FCT and center for Igbo Art and Culture and FCT sports council, chief Chris Onwozuiw have promised to support the championship.

Chibuisi noted that necessary arrangement has been put in place to ensure hitch free tournament and called all well meaning Nigerians and corperate bodies to join in supporting the competition to ensure the aims and objectives of the soccer are achieved.

He further said that the draw for the game had been scheduled at recharge point garden at area 10 Garki beside INEC office by 6pm on 23rd of this month while the opening ceremony is slated at area 3 sports complex on 14th of next month by 3:30pm.

The registered football clubs were: Urualla youths FC from Imo state, best stars FC Lugbe, Catholic youths organization of Nigeria FC Zuba, Home boys FC Idu, Super stars FC area 3, Mighty Ovia FC Suleja, All stars FC Kabusa1, All stars FC Kabusa 2, Standard FC piwoyi, Rainbow stars FC Karamajiji, Eleven stars FC Dei Dei, Winning Eleven FC Durumi, Flash FC Karu, Peace markers FC Karu, Waco boys FC area 3, Nimco FC Abuja, Sunzeal global FC Abuja and Dawaki united FC.
