From David Hassan, Gombe
Angry students of Federal College of Education (Technical) in Gombe were said to have shunned the Minister of Education, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau when he visited the school in order to commission some projects in the college.
The aggrieved students told newsmen in an interview that the visit of the minister to the school has no value, even as they said the school lacked adequate drinking water.
According to them, lack of availability of water in the school has affected their academic performance where every student is working hard to ensure that education should be his priority.
Speaking further, the students said there is need for federal government to come to their aid to enable them have sense of belonging in the society, adding that it is the responsibility of the federal government to strategise its plan to ensure that they equip necessary machinery in schools.
They explained that, due to lack of portable drinking water in the colleges, students live their hostel 2:00am to town in order to look for water, even as they said some students stay three days without bathing, however, the minister of Education was in Gombe with a view to commission some projects in school.
