From Ahmed Kaigama, Bauchi
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), North East Zone, has described as an end to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti state.
The PDP North-East Publicity Secretary, Al-Amin Sani Muhammed, made the statement while briefing newsmen in Bauchi even as he added that the South West has been a stronghold of the PDP since the advent of democracy.
According to Muhammed, Ekiti people decided to vote against the APC administration under Dr. Kayode Fayemi to save the state from drift when poverty, economic impoverishment, unemployment and crime were the orders of the day.
Muhammed described as baseless and unfounded claims if irregularities by the APC
during the gubernatorial elections saying it was a calculated attempt to discredit the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“There is no way INEC cannot afford to conduct hitch-free election when Federal government was able to deploy alarming numbers of security agencies during the gubernatorial elections in Ekiti determined to ensure its success as there was no report of violence since the election went smoothly” added Muhammed.
The Party spokesman also debunked claims that there was rigging by the PDP and cautioned those responsible to shut-up and toe a path of honour by accepting the outcome of the polls.
