Tope Musowo, Ado Ekiti
The Governor of Ekiti state, Ayodele Fayose, has charged the newly sworn in caretaker chairmen in the 16 local government areas of Ekiti state to be loyal and dedicated to duty.
Following the oath taking by new council chairmen at the Abiodun Adetiloye hall in Ado Ekiti, the state capital yesterday, Fayose told the new councilchairmen that service without loyalty is like soup without salt.
He said as a matter of necessity, their loyalty to him is important, even as he charged the civil servants to be loyal as he would not hesitate to show any civil servant who gets involved in politics the way out of the civil service.
Fayose promised to conduct local government elections to put in place elected chairmen into office as soon as the court rules on the issue which is already in the court.
He said it is nobody’s business either one of the newly sworn-in local government chairmen could or could not read the oath of office, he remains the chairman notwithstanding.
“Somebody will work and struggle hard for you and when it is time to compensate such fellow, you suddenly realize he cannot speak English, local government is a grass root government, of what use is a chairman who cannot relate with the people at the grassroots very well in the language
they all understand”, he said.
The Governor used the opportunity to tell his adversaries that his government is of God and whoever fights him is fighting God because he has been put there by God and the people of Ekiti, adding that any external aggression will be met with equal strength henceforth, because he has the power to defend himself if anyone fights him.
