As part of efforts to enhance the improvement of farm products, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) has unveiled plans to sensitize its members in yielding positive result in their businesses.
National Vice President Arable Crops, Auwal D. Tukur made this known yesterday In Gombe during North East zonal meeting held at Custodian Hotel, said that necessary measures would be taken in enlightening its members.
According to him, the country is blessed with vast land and people are adviced to engage themselves in farming than depending on oil.
He encouraged the participants to make use of the meeting and discuss relevant issues that will bring development within the association.
He said putting heads together will enhance members performance of their responsibility.
Speaking during the meeting, Commissioner for Agriculture in Gombe state, Alhaji Buba Biri assured members of the association of government commitment to procure tones of fertilizer to farmers.
He said agriculture has been a major sector of the economy which the nation was proud of, adding that there was urgent need to embrace farming in order to achieve the desired goals of the country.
He commended both the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Bank of Agriculture for their initiative towards supporting AFAN and its programmes.
The commissioner called on members not to relent in putting their best in carrying their programmes out effectively.
