From Suleiman Idris, Lagos

A member of the House of Representatives and Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation, Hon. Nnolim Nnaji will today in Lagos lead other experts from within and outside Nigeria to brainstorm on the ownership models that best suit the Nigerian airports operating environment.
Over the years, stakeholders in various shades have put forward proposals and opinions they believe could catapult the country’s aviation industry from it present average performance level to become a global brand and cynosure especially on the African continent.
The event, the annual NigeriaTravelsmart 2019 Colloquium, organisers said will seek ways of improving the aviation sector in Nigeria with particular focus on airports concessions, just as the Federal Government is planning a major overhaul of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
Mr. Simon Tumba, Publisher and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria Travels Mart told reporters at a briefing that the theme for this year’s edition “Airport concession and options for airports development” aptly captured the desire and aspirations of government for the country’s aviation industry.
Among seasoned speakers and panel discussants at the colloquium includes African leading aviation expert and Nigerian born CEO of Ropeways Transport Limited, Capt. Dapo Olumide, Ali Mohammed Magashi who also held sway as CEO of Kitari Consult Limited among many others.
Mr. Tumba said “In view of this, we will be engaging top aviation and financial experts to give us an in depth insight of this topic from a global and local perspective.”
