Former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Umaru Abdullahi has called on eligible voters in Katsina state to strive to acquire the Permanent Voter Card, PVC as a tool of effecting positive change in the forthcoming 2015 elections.
Justice Abdullahi made the call, yesterday in Katsina while speaking at the graduation ceremony of Katsina Vocational Centre founded by the former Inspector General of Police, Alhaji M. D Yusuf.
The retired Judge said “my appeal first go to the youth of Katsina State. Your going about shouting in the name of politics will not have meaning if you fail to obtain the permanent voter card. You must obtain it to make a difference”.
Similarly Justice Abdullahi tasked women to, with the permission of their husbands, visits their colleagues in their homes to mobilize them to obtain the permanent voter card to make their voices heard during the elections.
“I also wish to appeal to husbands to allow their wives to go out and obtain the permanent voter card. Why should you allow your wives to travel to far distance for wedding or naming ceremonies yet you deny them the opportunity to obtain the voters card “he queried.
Justice Abdullahi stressed that it was this laxity to such a sensitive national issue that normally affects the progress of our people, adding that we must use the opportunity to show strength and make it count politically.
Also in a remark, the former Grand-Khadi of the state, Khadi Batagarawa has called on imams across the state to at all times preach to the youth on the need to shun drug abuse and other criminal behaviour that destroy their lives.
