EU donates drugs to Yola South LGA

In an effort to address shortage of drugs and medical facilities facing our hospitals in the country, the European Union (EU) has donated drugs worth millions of naira to Yola South Local Government Primary Healthcare Authority in Adamawa State.

Confirming receipt of the drugs, the Executive Secretary, primary healthcare of the council, Dr. Abubakar Sahabo, in an interview with Newsmen in Yola, said the development was part of gesture and encouragement by the Union to assist in reducing maternal morbidity as well as to protect under- five children.

“European Union in collaboration with UNICEF and State Primary Healthcare Development Agency has donated drugs worth millions of naira. And seven motorcycles to assist reduce maternal morbidity and death of children under five years in Yola South LGA.” Sahabo said.

Sahabo maintained that the gesture would go a long way in tackling maternal morbidity cases and improve health condition of pregnant women and children in the area.

He thanked the union and the agency for the support, recalling that the state agency had trained ward focal persons from the area to upgrade their knowledge on the new service packages.

“The Yola south community is responding effectively to the health services as the drugs are given free.” Sahabo said.
