Etsu Nupe commends IBBUL on Bida Basin hydrocarbon exploration research

The Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar has applauded the efforts of the authorities of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai (IBBUL) for the progress recorded on the Bida Basin Hydrocarbon Exploration Research.
The royal father expressed his view when the Vice Chancellor, Prof Nasiru Maiturare visited his Wadata Palace in Bida.
He, however, said he was delighted that the University has continued with the research work, especially the involvement of NNPC in the funding of the research efforts.
He noted that reports reaching his palace indicate significant progress had been made on hydrocarbon potentials of the basin, after the NNPC wade into the research work.
He expressed the hope that oil and gas will be discovered in commercial quantity in the basin which will leads to exploration of oil and gas by oil companies.
The Etsu Nupe said he was willing to assist and support the University towards achieving the desired goals as well as providing unfiltered access to any area of research interest in his domain.
Earlier in his remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Nasiru Maiturare commended the defunct Gubernatorial Committee on Bida Basin Development for providing the first complete geological map of the basin.
He said it was in recognition of the outstanding work done by the University in that direction that the NNPC commissioned the University to undertake Field Mapping and geological studies of the Bida and Sokoto basins.
The Vice Chancellor. Prof Nasiru Maiturare expressed gratitude and appreciation to the state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello for his interest in the project and escalating the research report to the federal government.
