According to reports in France, the 32-year-old custodian is believed to be in the watch list of the two English clubs ahead of the January transfer window.
Sunderland’s reportedly link to the Nigerian comes on the heels of dreadful goalkeeping performance by their Italian shot-stopper, Vito Mannone, in recent matches that saw the Black Cats ship in 10 goals in two games against Southampton and Arsenal. But the Black Cats may have found a new number one in Romanian goalkeeper, Costel Pantilimon, who was between the sticks on Monday when they won 3-1 at Crystal Palace.
The Reds, on the other hand, are reported by French media to be looking at Enyeama as “a competitor to Simon Mignolet” at Anfield. Liverpool are also checking on Mexican goalkeeper, Guillermo Ochoa, who is in the books of Malaga.
It is not the first time that Enyeama is being linked with a possible move to Sunderland or any other English club. In September last year, reports suggested that he could join Sunderland in the January transfer window of 2014 but that did not happen.
Enyeama has featured in all of LOSC Lille’s 12 Ligue 1 matches this season, representing a total of 1,080 minutes of top flight football in France. The Nigerian goalkeeper has made 10 saves and 20 blocks in the 12 league matches, but has conceded 10 goals.
He is contracted to Lille until 2017.
