Governor Aminu Bello Masari has charged beneficiaries of empowerment packages in the state to be just and honest in their conduct.
Masari was speaking yesterday in Malumfashi during the disbursement of empowerment packages by the senator representing Katsina South in the Senate, Alhaji Bello Mandiya.
The governor explained that some of the politicians after receiving the empowerment packages used to return to their constituencies empty handed and told people that they have not received anything.
Such an attitude, according to the Governor would make ordinary voters to refuse to accept pleas to vote for a candidate of the party in subsequent elections.
The Governor described the day as historic even though it coincided with the period when Katsina is mourning the death of so many villages arisen from a heavy banditry attack in Batsari local government.
On the empowerment packages as distributed by senator Bello Mandiya, Governor Aminu Masari assured that the senator would be made to sustain the tempo.
He noted that the member of the House of Representatives Alhaji Babangida Talau and the member representing Malumfashi constituency in the state house of assembly Alhaji Aminu Ibrahim Sa’id alias Acid had earlier provided such empowerment packages.
He expressed the hope that the gesture by Alhaji Bello Mandiya would add value to the lives of the beneficiaries.
In a remark, the Senate President, Alhaji Ahmed Lawan described Katsina as his second home after Yobe State because of his long association with President Muhammad Buhari, Governor Aminu Bello Masari who was his speaker in the house of Representatives, senator Abu Ibrahim and now senator Bello Mandiya.
He said the occasion of the empowerment disbursement had made him to celebrate with the young senator whom he said is loyal, dedicated, reliable and a worthy successor of the former Senator representing the zone.
He said that the empowerment packages were a part of the constituency project of senator Bello Mandiya.
On insecurity, Senator Ahmed Lawan assured that the National Assembly would continue to support Mr President to end banditry in Katsina State and the country at large.
The Senate president commiserate with people of Katsina State over the loss of 30 people to banditry attack about two days ago.
He also assured that the Bill for the establishment of a University of Agriculture in Funtua Will soon be passed into law to give the zone a befitting tertiary educational institution.
The donor, Alhaji Bello Mandiya and senator representing Katsina South in the Senate explained that the empowerment package were as a result of the campaign promise that he would continue from where senator Abu Ibrahim stopped.
Alhaji Bello Mandiya expressed gratitude to voters in Funtua zone for making him to receive the highest votes among senators in the country.
He assured that a Bill he took to the Senate on the establishment of a university of Agriculture is on course and hope that the university will become a reality.
He also assured that more empowerment packages will be provided in the not too distant future.
Also speaking, the chairman of the the distribution committee, Alhaji Bala Abubakar Musawa announced that each of the eleven local governments that make up Funtua zone would receive 30 motorcycles, 20 water pumping and grinding machines and 120 bags of fertilizers.
