Empower your constituents, Tambuwal counsels lawmakers

Speaker of the House of Representatives Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has urged its members at the National Assembly to remain focused in order to empower their constituents for them to enjoy the dividends of democracy.

The speaker offered the advise at the weekend during the commissioning of Tula Community Development Office and Empowerment Programme by Hon. Fatima Binta Bello held in Kaltungo local government area of Gombe state.

He said there was need for members to always have their people at heart in order to ensure that they represent them well at the National Assembly.

He called on them to redouble their efforts by empowering their people so as to be self reliant, stressing that its their responsibility to empower them to enable them benefit the gesture.

According to him, “our joy is to see that our constituencies is being empowered.”

The speaker also called on the people of Kaltungo and Shongom constituency not to hesitate to ensure that Hon. Binta Bello return to House of Representatives in the forth coming general elections in 2015 even as he said the lawmaker has contributed immensely to the development of the area.

Speaking further, the Speaker congratulated the new Emir of Gombe Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III for succeeding his late father and called on him to emulate his programmes, adding that the late Emir was a man of peace that always love his people.

Also speaking at the event, Gombe state governor Alhaji Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo commended Hon. Binta Bello for her effort to empower people in her constituencies, noting that her contribution to the development of her constituency and the state would never be forgotten.

Governor Dankwambo explained that as part of the effort to boost agriculture in the state, his administration has procured 20 tonnes of assorted fertilizers which is expected to be distributed to farmers.
