The Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji (Dr) Shehu Idris has urged resident of Zaria and environs to support the ongoing customers’ enumeration exercise being conducted by Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, stating that the exercise is aimed at availing the company with useful data concerning all electricity users in its franchise.
The emir made the statement yesterday during a community engagement organized by Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company, Zaria Region, for stakeholders in the ancient city of Zaria.
The emir, who was represented at the event by the Sarkin Fadan Zazzau, Alhaji Ahmadu Fatika, called on the residents to cooperate with the Company and provide all needed information to the enumerators.
According to him, “the exercise will provide Kaduna Electric with accurate information about the energy requirement of its customers, the customers’ characteristics, their locations and the existing power supply assets, thereby providing effective basis for future planning and infrastructural deployments”.
In his contribution, the Business Development and Relationship Officer, Zaria Regional Office, Mallam Ibrahim Muhammad solicited for the cooperation of customers to make the exercise a success.
He stated that the enumeration exercise “is a regulatory requirement designed to give all Distribution Companies across the Country a good view of their franchise area through generation of accurate data of their assets, their customers and the energy demand of the customers, the metering gap and other infrastructural shortfalls for better planning going forward”.
Mallam Ibrahim drew the attention of the stakeholder to the twin challenges of non-payment of electricity bills and vandalism of power supply infrastructure across the Regional Office and called on the community leaders to “prevail on their subjects to pay their bills on time and put more effort in curbing the menace of vandals in the region.”
