From Uche Nnorom, Makurdi
Emir of Lafia HRH Sidi Muhammad has stressed the need for harmony amongst Nigerians as a way of building unity in the country.
The Emir said this yesterday in Makurdi, Benue State capital when he paid a condolence visit on Governor Samuel Ortom over the death of Chief Sule Abenga, Ter Makurdi, wife of Tor Lobi Chief Christiana Anagende, former Lagos State Commissioner of Police Alh. Abubakar Tsav as well as the Governor’s sister Doose Ortom.
He particularly expressed shock over the death of the Ter Makurdi, noting that only few weeks ago, he spoke brilliantly at a peace meeting held between Benue and Nasarawa States at Yelwata, a border town.
The Emir prayed God to console the Governor and the State over the losses, while asking God to grant them eternal rest.
Responding, Governor Samuel Ortom lauded the Emir for exhibiting passion for peace which will strengthen the relationship between the two (2)States.
“We are consoled by your visit to mourn with us. We are comforted by the fact that we have brothers who came to mourn with us”, Ortom said.
He also, acknowledged the commitment of Nasarawa State Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule towards peace building, promising that his government will reciprocate this commitment to ensure the eradication of criminalities in the border areas.
“We will not shield criminals or anyone who violates the laws of our States. We will always allow the law to take its course.
“We will continue to cooperate with our sister State to fight poverty which is ravaging us and the only to do so is to show concern for each, “Ortom said.
