Emir of Lafia urges journalists to project Nigeria’s image

Emir of Lafia, Honourable Justice Sidi Bage I has implored media practitioners in the country to always project the image of the nation positively to the outside world in order to sustain peaceful coexistence.
The emir made the plea while hosting members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Nasarawa State in his palace in Lafia, the state capital yesterday.
He added that journalists play a significant role in the development of every society as well as called on them to always maintain the culture of balancing their reportage on daily basis for the development of the great nation.
According to him, “You are a very important organ all over the globe. No nation can strive in the sphere of development without the contribution of the media. No nation can relegate the press to the background. You are a critical stakeholder. Project the image of this country. I know the country is passing through difficulties.”
He continued “I am glad with your tremendous contributions to the development of Nasarawa State and the Lafia Emirate Council. Continue to do the good work to our communities in the country. The Emirate Council is fully ready to support you journalists in the state.”
In his remark, the Chairman Correspondents’ Chapel Mr. Isaac Ukpoju commended the Emir for his fatherly role towards maintaining harmonious co-existence among the diverse ethnic nationality in the state, added that media practitioners in the state are fully committed to contribute their quota for the development of the state.
