From Ahmed Kaigama, Bauchi.
Emir of Dass, Alhaji Othman Bilyaminu Othman has attributed 2011 post election violence to injustice and ignorance of the law with a charge on Nigerians to be law-abiding citizens.
Just as the Emir urged politicians to shun their differences and place the interest of their people at heart The Emir made the statement while addressing a political forum of Bauchi-South People’s Parliament who were in the Palace to seek the Emir’s royal blessing in support of the gubernatorial ambition of former state Minister of health, Dr. Mohammed Ali Pate, ahead of 2015 election, saying where there is violence, there will be no meaningful development and economic boom.
According to the Emir, the Emirate council is ready to bless politicians irrespective of their political inclination, which he added is in conformity with the roles of traditional institutions to ensure equity and equal opportunity in the society, saying God gives power to anybody he so wishes.
The Emir urged politicians to shun violence, so as to ensure the solid political foundation and corporate existence of the country, as the 2015 election draws nearer.
“As royal fathers, our tradition demands that we should carry everybody along regardless of any background which is applicable to political parties and their aspirants” said Othman.
The forum therefore sought for the blessing of the Emir, with a clarion call on the people of the state to support the candidature of Dr. Mohammed Ali Pate to succeed Yuguda, through free and fair elections in the state.
