The immediate past NFF President, Alhaji Aminu Maigari has commended the Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji (Dr) Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu for contributing immensely to the successful outing of all the national football teams in the country. Maigari who was received by a mammoth crowd at the Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International airport, Bauchi on his return to the state made the commendation when he paid a courtesy call to the Emir of Bauchi in his palace.
“It was like a dream as when we went for the AFCON Nations cup after our two matches in South Africa, I called the Emir to intimate him about our position and he encouraged me that we should not be worried we are going to make it and we won the trophy 16 years after. During
the U-17 World cup I confronted the Emir where he blessed us by praying to us that by God grace we are going to return with the cup and we did not only win the trophy but won the golden boot, best player award, so the emir was instrumental to our victory, ”he said
The former NFF boss told the Emir that every beginning has its own end, saying that he was in his palace to thank him for the support he rendered to him when he was heading the NFF that recorded different successes and thanked Almighty God for ensuring safe landing as he
became the first NFF president to handover to his successor that earned him Life President position of the NFF.
Responding the Emir of Bauchi, who was represented by the Galadiman Bauchi, Surveyor Ibrahim Sa’idu Jahun commended the former NFF president for making the state proud, saying that history shows that Nigeria never had a successful NFF President like him and urged him to
continue contributing towards the growth of the game.
The traditional ruler added that Nigeria will always remember him for contributing towards the
development of football in the country especially by initiating the FIFA Goal project in Bauchi, winning the Nations Cup, U-17 World cup as well as the marvelous performance of Super Eagles at the World cup and the U-20 women world cup that ended in Canada.
