From Matthew Aramunde& Lucky Lawal ,Lagos

The  Chairman  Buhari Vanguard, Jasper Azuatalam has revealed that their principal, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) has severally received petitions from eminent Nigerians to vie for the exalted office of the President of Nigeria come 2015 elections.

He made the revelation when he led top members of the Buhari Vanguard on a courtesy visit to the new Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Cornelius Adearanti in his office at the Police Command in Ikeja.

He disclosed that Buhari has over time been persistently pressurized by those who see him as a reputable and disciplined Nigerian with enviable track record who when given the chance to steer the ship of the nation once more, would not only make the difference but move the country forward.

Azuatalam noted that it is worrisome that as at the time of speaking to reporters, Buhari had not declared his intention to run but stressed that efforts are ongoing to persuade him to have a shot once more.

He took a swipe at those who believed that the former Nigeria military ruler was desperate to become the president noting  that this is one Nigerian who was not found  to have pilfer the commonwealth of the people even when he was  the military ruler and when he was opportune to serve  in some lucrative appointments  he held thereafter

Speaking further, he said such cynics should remember that Buhari was never  a corrupt man the reason for his humble  lifestyle as he presently lives in a small house and till date could not afford the luxury of sending his children abroad to further their studies

Expressing optimism that their principal will win the APC primaries in spite of the intimidating presence of  political gladiators like former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, the founder of Leadership Group Limited, Sam Nda- Isaiah, he  stressed that with Buhari in the saddle the issue of insecurity coupled with the  threat of Boko Haram would all be consigned to the dust-bin of history.

“As a military man and ably complimented by the huge amount this administration is budgeting for security Buhari will deal decisively with the insurgents” he concluded.
