Following the crisis that ensued in the Plateau Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over leadership tussle, the suspended state party chairman, Dr Haruna Dabin has yesterday resigned his position stressing that his decision was in the interest of peace in the state.
Recalled that following Dabin’s interest to contest the 2015 governorship seat under the PDP, the serious altercation ensued among the leadership of the party, leading to his suspension as chairman and was replaced by his deputy, Raymond Dabo who took over in the capacity of acting chairman.
The embattled chairman disclosed this yesterday while addressing journalists at the Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ), Press center in Jos, saying that despite efforts to illegally remove him from office for daring to express his aspiration to seek to become governor in 2015 some months back.
“ I have insisted on standing by what is right because of my conviction that the demands of leadership may require that I may sometime stand alone in the face of conflict, public opinion or crisis because of what I believe in, no matter what the consequences may be “ he added.Dabin stated this while presenting his letter of resignation before journalists in Jos.
Part of the letter reads, “This letter is therefore the proper and constitutional way for my resignation and supersedes any previous correspondence on this matter.”
