From Ali Abare Abubakar, Lafia
The Eggon Youth Movement (EYM) has alleged that some Eggon elites clamoring to deliver the Eggon nation have failed and could no longer do so.
Mathew Alaku, stated this yesterday at the official inauguration of newly elected EYM officials in Gayam electoral ward, Lafia local government area of Nasarawa state.
Alaku maintained that some of the Eggon elites that so much believed they could deliver Eggon land today cannot actually do so because, “most of them have been deceiving us, taking us to places that we don’t belong to.”
He noted that Eggon youths have taken the opportunity of the event to let the world know that they appreciate what Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura is doing to the state in terms of bringing widespread development, unlike previous leaders that could hardly be so recognized.
“We the Eggon people want to tell him, as far as Nasarawa state is concerned, an Eggon man is concerned, this movement is concerned, we are together with him because of the development he has put in place for us to see”, Alaku said.
While describing Al-makura as being a man of the people who needs peace to fulfill his social contract with the people of the state, Alaku said EYM wants everybody to know that the Eggon man is for peace just as the governor is for peace.
Earlier in an opening address, Legal Adviser to the EYM, Barrister Williams Akika, urged Eggon youths to interface with youths of other ethnic groups in the state so as to bring about lasting peace.
Akika stressed that violence destroys political and social developments as according to him, resources meant for development are diverted towards settling disputes.
