The people of Angwan Ajara and Kasuwa-Dare communities, in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have appealed to the Chairman of the council, Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri to assist the communities with another transformer so that they can have constant power supply in the area.
Some residents, who spoke with Peoples Daily, yesterday in Gwagwalada, complained that since the other communities have joined in sharing the only source for electric light, the condition of power supply in the area had become deteriorated.
A resident, Mr. Jato Emmanuel Terfa, said that despite persistent appeals to the authorities of the council to save the communities from incessant power outages nothing had been done to arrest the situation.
“We are not happy living in darkness and we also worried with the electricity sharing formula adopted by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) in the area”; Terfa said.
Another resident, Miss Ifeoma Silas, accused the administration of Gwagwalada area Council of failing to provide basic amenities, for the people in the area and its environs.
Not left out, a community leader in Anguwan Ajara, Mallam Saleh Lawal, expressed displeasure about the way in which the administration of the council had neglected the community, in terms of infrastructural facilities, to uplift the wellbeing of the people.
