Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai and a septuagenarian volunteer cemetery worker, Mallam Musa Abubakar at the weekend bagged merit from Red Carpet Goal Development Foundation.
Red Carpet Goal Development Foundation, a Kaduna based Non-Governmental Organization is a social group of young Nigerians, which has fully metamorphosed into a humanitarian Nongovernmental Organisation, NGO.
The Foundation at its first award night in Kaduna on Saturday said, the awardees were carefully selected due to the personal contribution to assistance of the less privilege and humanity at large.
Others who bagged the Foundation’s award were: Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Muhammadu Gana, Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Ahnad AbdulRahman and a real estate developer, Alhaji Nuru Siraj.
President of the Foundation, AbdulSalam Ahmad Jere said, the award was initiated to appreciate the the selected five individuals for their invaluable contributions to humanity and the less privileged in particular.
Speaking further, Jere said, the choice of Governor El-Rufai, just like that of Commandant-General, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Muhammadu Gana and Commissioner of Police were not informed by the offices they hold, but because they have despite holding public offices spent their personal resources towards assisting the less privileged
Jere said, the cemetery worker, Mallam Abubakar had put in over 20 years of voluntary service at Bachama Road Muslim cemetery, where he dug graves and maintained the grave yard.
Speaking at the occasion, Governor El-Rufai, who was represented by his Special Assistant on Culture and Tourism, Hajia Halima Idris expressed appreciation to the foundation and promise contribute more to the welfare of the less privileged in his personal capacity, and development of Kaduna State, in his capacity as the Governor.
He however, used the occasion to canvass support President Muhammadu Buhari and himself in the forthcoming general elections, saying their re-election will not only guarantee welfare of the less privileged, but well-being of entire citizens of the country.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, CP AbdulRahman while expressing appreciation to the foundation, said the honour done to them will certainly spur them to do more.
