From Femi Oyelola, Kaduna
Kaduna state Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has apologized to All Progressives Congress Party (APC) stake holders in Kaduna state for any wrong decision he has taken during his two years in the helms of affairs of the state as the party leader and Governor of the state.
He made the apology during an interactive forum with key APC stakeholders held in Kaduna yesterday.
El-Rufai said he is aware that some decisions taken by his administration did not go down well with some party members in the state even though such decisions are perceived to be in the interest of the large population.
He added that the APC in Kaduna state is one and as a family he will eat the humble pie by apologizing to every aggrieved members of the party as way of reconciliation and moving the party forward.
However, El-Rufai warned that he will contend with anybody who is contending with his government for no just reason, saying such people should be ready for a tough fight with him because he is not going to succumbed to any blackmail that came out of personal interest.
“I want to say hear that in line with my electioneering promises I am not going to share the public funds to some few who see themselves as super power in the state. The money is meant for the development of the state and it shall channel for that purpose. If some people decide to have a fight with me because of this then, I am ready for the fight.
“I invited you to this interactive forum today so that you can tell us our mistakes because we are willing to make correction for the APC led government in Kaduna state to succeed but don’t be deceived that it is not a sign of weaknesses and those who know me am always available for any contention with anybody when I know the right thing is been done.
‘‘Those of you here are stakeholders of our party tell us the truth for us to make amendments. We promise you good health care, education, infrastructural development, social development, employment and road construction. Any community that has not been carried along in our last two years can be assured that they will be in the next face but we can only succeed if there is unity in our party and that is we all gathered here today to map out a way forward’’ he said.
In his own remark, the senator representing Kaduna north in the senate, Suleiman Hunkuyi, who said he was not invited for the stakeholder meeting, has decided to come for the sake of the party and advised the state Governor as the party leader to extend such apology to some stakeholders whom people have branded as his enemy.
Hunkuyi warned the governor not to believe that those telling him that he can do it alone without some stakeholders because every party member and the unity of the party is very crucial for the success of APC in Kaduna state. He therefore advised El-Rufai to extent the same public apology to the aggrieved stakeholders.
