A former chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Hon. Abubakar Jibrin Giri, has called on both Muslims and Christians alike to live in peace with one another irrespective of their religious differences.
He also urged Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of sacrifice and love for mankind.
Giri who made the call in an interview with Peoples Daily during the Eid-el-kabir celebration in his residence at Giri, wished the Muslim faithful a happy celebration.
He further charged the Moslem as well the Christian religious leaders to continue to pray for peaceful co-existence and prosperity for the sake of development in Nigeria.
He noted that no community or society could development in the atmosphere of rancor and acrimony, expressing joy the manner at which the residents of Gwagwalada were living in peace with one another in the area.
While speaking on the 2019 general elections, he advised the politicians who wanted to contest for the elective positions to shun politics of bitterness, and urged the electorate not to play politics of a do-or-die affair.
He then pleaded with the APC supporters in the FCT to cast their votes for the party candidates from presidential level down to the councillorship coming 2019 elections in the area.
Giri, who is the board chairman of the FCT Scholarship Board, however, said that his leadership had cleared the Batch 1 students who applied for the scholarship in the territory, disclosing that as soon as the 2018 budget was approved by the National Assembly the scholarship would be disbursed to the Batch II students.
