The Edo State Police Command declared that it is not aware of the reported bloody clash in Ogheghe Community in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area of the State which claimed five lives on Tuesday morning.
The protracted communal clash pitted two brothers — Saturday Iyirhiaro Akhatise and Festus Iyirhiarho (claimants of the throne) against each other.
During the standoff, residents of Ogheghe, shop owners and pedestrians scampered for safety, while motorists were forced to take alternative routes.
According to reports from the area, two males were said to have been burnt inside a car in suspected reprisal attack.
But, the State Commissioner of police, Mr. Phillip Ogbaudu, confirmed the incident to journalists, but, said there was no death.
“As we speak now, they are attacking the palace of Enogie of Ogheghe…And the youths are raising up arms. Me and you are ready for peace, but this youths now are not prepared to wait.
“So, me and you have failed as parents to bring up our Children after us.
“If you can raise something against a traditional ruler, that something will follow you.
“I am not aware that five people have been killed. The people that were killed happened two to three weeks ago on Okada riders clashes, and the Government has advised that Okada has been banned at night.
