Nigeria Police topped other professional bodies on “exemplary service public award” for outstanding Nigerians who have made a mark in their own career and societal development.
Six policemen and the immediate past Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Mr Mohammed Danmallam and the Zone 5 police Public Relations Officer, DSP Emeka Ihenacho including two prominent members of Edo Civil society Organizations, Leftist Omobude Agho and Leftist Osazee Edigin were also honoured during the 2019 edition of award ceremony which was organized by Rosha Search Service Limited in conjunction with Edicharson Foundation for Sickle Cell.
The award was hinged on act of sincerity that was demonstrated by some police personnel and a litigant who helped to recover undisclosed foreign currency which was donated to Edicharson Foundation for the procurement of drugs for Sickle Cell sufferers, but was diverted by a Bureau De Change operator bade in Benin City.
The President of Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Iryne Omorogiuwa, Edo State Commissioner of Justice, Prof. Yinka Omorogbe and two members of the Nigerian Bar Association, Benin branch were also honoured by the group in this year’s award..
The Duke (Enigie) of Evbuobanosa Community in Orhionmwon Local Government Ares of the State, HRHProf. Gregory Akenzua, and with the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, and the immediate past Secretary of the Council, Comrade Aliu Ozioruva Alemma and two other Broadcasters, Comrade Daisy Osunde and Comrade Ese Best Idahosa were recognized for their contributions in to the Media.
In a remark, President of Edicharson Foundation for Sickle Cell, Mr Charles Edigin, extolled the moral support of the police personnel towards helping to recover the funds that was allegedly diverted by a Bureau De Change operator and the private investigator for their intervention.
He appealed to Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki to redeem his pledge he made on June 19, 2019/during the World Sickle Cell Day Celebrations in Edo State where he said that he will restore 24 hours medical attention at the Sickle Cell Centre in Benin City.
Speaking at the maiden edition of the award which at the Weekend in Benin City, President of Rusha Service Limited, Mr Alfred Kissinger Darusha, said the the award which began in 2015, was in recognition of people who have done exploit in life and have contributed immensely to human development and impacted society.
According to him, There was some foreign currency that was sent from Europe to assist Edicharson Foundation procure drugs for Sickle Cell sufferers.
